As recent legislation in Queensland and South Australia now requires agencies to offer a fee-free payment option for tenants to pay their rent, staying compliant can feel like another task to juggle. Navigating rental law reforms

Recent rental reforms across Australia have introduced significant changes for both real estate agents and renters, and we know how important it is to stay ahead of these updates. This has been a project that we’ve been closely involved with, and as state governments continue to roll out new legislation, we’ve proactively adjusted our product suite to help you remain compliant.

In South Australia, for example, the rental reforms led to updates in our InspectRealEstate systems, particularly for the 2Apply online application form. In July, we implemented changes to align with updated legislation, such as removing various application questions and introducing new settings that allow you to request income sources without requiring a full employment history.

We’ve also updated our Data Retention Policy to align with new regulations across states regarding how long you can retain data from both successful and unsuccessful applications.

In Queensland, new rental reforms have brought changes to tenancy laws, including the introduction of prescribed tenancy application form. We’re actively engaged with the RTA and REIQ to ensure that 2Apply remains compliant and updated promptly as new requirements take shape.

The Queensland reforms have also driven changes in your Console Cloud systems, particularly around Rent Reviews. To ensure compliance, we’ve introduced new features that include Most Recent Rent Review data across various areas in Console Cloud. This gives you all the necessary information to conduct rent reviews with the legislated time frames.
